No, I’m not on Tubi’s payroll. I just appreciate the streaming platform because it has an incredible variety of horror movies; the selection seems endless. Whether you want to watch an indie or a classic, there is something for everyone. And of course, it’s free! There are ads, but unlike some other platforms that shall not be named, Tubi’s advertisements aren’t every two minutes. Apologies to anyone outside the US who can’t access this service.
Each week I will rotate out any films that are no longer available to stream. If I come across any awesome movies that simply must be added, I will add them.
Video X: The Dwayne and Darla-Jean Story: Recommending this simply because I’m shocked that Tubi has it. Long time ago I rented this on VHS from a Hastings video store in New Mexico. It didn’t have any information on it other than “VIDEO X” so it honestly looked like it could’ve been a snuff film someone stuck in the store. My friends and I were really weirded out by it… and that was the only time I watched it. For the longest time I thought maybe I dreamed the whole thing up because I’ve never seen it mentioned elsewhere. A VERY early found footage entry.
Rabid: All I can say is this movie is gross but fun. Definitely a must watch if you’re curious about body horror or have simply overlooked this from David Cronenberg’s filmography.
Tourist Trap: Tubi has both the original and uncut version, although I can’t vouch for the uncut one. This movie really surprised me; I thought it would be silly but instead I found it to be unsettling and creepy. It’s definitely a weird one.
The New York Ripper: Something that I’ve seen once and that was enough. The violence is hard to watch, but the movie is really good even if it’s sleazy and gory.
House of the Dead AKA Alien Zone: One of my favorite anthologies, which I’ve written about here.
